DexPak
TaperPaks are prescription pharmaceutical products in a specific
dosage regimen for the treatment of symptoms related to contact
dermatitis and other disease states which may benefit from
short term, tapered, oral corticosteroid therapy.
There are two DexPak TaperPak formats: DexPak 13 Day TaperPak
and DexPak 10 Day TaperPak. Both DexPak formats contain a
potent oral corticosteroid which is dosed in a specific amount
for a defined period of time. DexPak 13 Day may be beneficial
for treating more severe cases of contact dermatitis or when
treatment is initiated early in the course of the disease.
DexPak 10 Day may be more useful when treating less severe
cases of contact dermatitis or when therapy is initiated well
into the normal course of the disease. Each provides a sufficient
amount of an oral corticosteroid to provide prompt initial
relief of symptoms, and both continue to deliver a sufficient
amount of drug to help prevent reoccurrence of these symptoms.
The systematic tapering of tablets provides a format to help
prevent or minimize any untoward events which may be related
to corticosteroid withdrawal.
Both DexPak 13 Day TaperPak and DexPak 10 Day TaperPak provide
a convenient dosing regimen which helps the patient take the
medication specifically as prescribed. Compliance with oral
corticosteroid therapy is critical to assure both efficacy
and safety. Taken as prescribed, the patient achieves prompt
and ongoing relief, potential side effects are minimized,
and therapy is appropriately tapered to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

It is important to complete DexPak therapy as prescribed to
help prevent the reoccurrence of symptoms and to appropriately
taper the dosage. Do Not Discontinue therapy abruptly without
consulting your physician. Dosing should be appropriately
tapered to help prevent side effects which may occur from
rapid discontinuation of corticosteroid therapy. If you believe
you are experiencing side effects, consult your physician
to determine the best method to taper your therapy.
